At Amethyst, we can help fix those old broken parts that bugged you every day last summer! Fix the floor in that Crestliner, replace that rotten plank on the Larson, add some wooden flair to the old Alumacraft, or put in that dream interior into your Catalina 26 and be the most unique boat on the lake!
The Bits and Pieces
Not every project fits neatly into a box. Currently in the shop we have a 18’ wooden kayak for restoration and we have the training to work on teams restoring larger Chris Crafts and larger cruisers. Also this is where you can treat us like a regular woodshop, if you have an idea and you think that I might be able to help you make it possible, reach out and we’ll discover what we can do together.

we are
GREETINGS! My name is Mathew and I operate a small meat and potatoes work shop in a garage here in the Twin Ports, and honestly, wouldn’t have it any other way right now. While the business has been around for sometime, life and personal struggles often got in the way of expanding on its potential. But now I am happy to be offering my services as marine carpenter and boatwright. I was trained and graduated in 2023 at the then Great Lakes Boat Building School, now known as the Marine Technical Institute in Cedarville, MI where I received a diploma in Comprehensive Career Boat Building. I’m looking forward to working with folks to keep their wooden boats and parts in as pristine shape as possible.
In addition to the workshop, I also work part time at a local hospital, play on the Minnesota Warriors Hockey Team (learning to play hockey/ skate at 40 is insane.; all my things hurt), and my wife and I volunteer with several organizations in the area.
